As the creative director behind the Jurnii label, here’s a little bit more about me and the Jurnii story so far . . . . . enjoy,

Colleen Moutsos xo

as a child I was surrounded by collections of art, antiques, bric-a-brac, treasured family heirlooms, much loved handcrafted things and beautiful jewellery.  And each of these pieces told a story and tweaked my curiosity to find out more . . . . .

at age eight, my mum taught me to sew on a knee-push Singer sewing machine.  My dad was always designing, building or fixing things, my nanna sat with me while I knitted, and a family artist friend, in outback Australia, taught me to use a spinning wheel and paint just a little.  I was always creating something or surrounded by creative people but the love of beading jewellery would come much later . . . . .

growing up and still living today in the inner west of Sydney, Australia, I am constantly exposed to and fascinated by my multicultural urban surrounds, the people I meet, their traditions, their beliefs and personal stories.

my early experiences, local environment, and mini-exposés around the globe too, all helped to open my eyes to colour, texture and the fascinating cultures and peoples of our world - oh and did I mention my childhood fascination with collecting rocks and little gemstone pieces . . . . .

so in effect for me, I feel like my life has come full circle and I am back adoring and creating handcrafted things, collecting unique, eclectic and beautiful pieces, and again just being curious about so many things . . . . .  just this time my love of handcrafted, eclectic and beautiful things found is centred around stone and sterling silver jewellery.

in early 2012, I left my “other” job, studied microbusiness operations with a group of amazing women around me, shed all my fears and made a little dream come true – Jurnii was born and I just love working in my own creative microbusiness.

after handcrafting and collecting jewellery for many years, mainly for me, family or friends, I decided to kick it up a notch and started working with finished sterling silver elements and handcrafting beautiful stone beaded jewellery for others too.  But I wanted to share much more than just my handcrafted designs, and because I love the hunt to find unique and interesting things, so started my journey to search globally and locally, for sterling silver artisan and fashion jewellery to add to the Jurnii collections.

by August 2012, Jurnii was born and I began sharing the Jurnii jewellery collections at community and large scale festival events, in and around, Sydney.

2014 sees this continuation, showcasing my handcrafted "Jurnii designed" jewellery together with my "Jurnii found" jewellery collections and steadily growing a loyal client base all of which constantly inspires me to create and find more interesting and beautiful jewellery
